Brooklyn-based artist Sheila Pepe will be presenting a talk for the 2016 Eric Fischl Lecture Series.
The Eric Fischl Lecture Series was launched in 2005 when internationally acclaimed American painter and sculpture Eric Fischl returned to Phoenix College for the first time since the late 1960's. Fischl, then student, studied at PC under renowned Southwestern landscape artist and faculty member Merrill Mahaffey.
Each spring, Fischl celebrates his connection to the College by returning with an nationally or internationally acclaimed professional artist or collector to present the Eric Fischl Lecture Series. The Series, held at the Phoenix Art Museum as part of the Contemporary Forum Lecture Series, draws hundreds of students, artists, and community members from across the city and state for an engaging discourse about various themes focused on art.
As part of the event, Fischl presents the prestigious Vanguard Award to a Phoenix College student whose artwork receives “Best in Show” in the college’s Student Art Competition.
